Harriet's Legacy Exhibition
Ithaca artist Terry Plater developed the idea for her exhibit as she contemplated the 400th anniversary of the arrival of enslaved Africans in the United States; the release of the film “Harriet;” and her ongoing project painting from old family photos to better come to know and honor the history of her family. This exhibition is part of the Emerging Artist Exhibition series in partnership with the Cayuga Museum of History & Art. One part of the exhibit will be on view at the Cayuga Museum and the other part will be on view in Gallery Julius at the Schweinfurth.
Terry Plater will be giving a lecture via Zoom about her exhibit on Friday, June 18, at 6pm as part of the Schweinfurth's Juneteenth celebration. This event is free to the public, but you must pre-register to receive the zoom invitation.
Masks and social distancing is required. The Schweinfurth has hand-sanitizing stations throughout the building.
